  • Do you have any certification?
    Double Edge Sharpening has completed certification with the Shark Fin® Shear Company, and is authorized to perform any and all repairs on all SHARK FIN® BEAUTY SHEARS, without voiding any manufacturer's warranties. For verification, you may call toll free 1-888-544-7254
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    We understand that sometimes, unexpected delays can occur, making schedule adjustments. If you need to cancel your appointment, we respectfully request at least 24 hours notice. Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 24 hours will result in a cancellation fee of $25. We will do our very best to reschedule your service for another time that is convenient to you. We require a credit card to hold your appointment. Cancellation fees will be charged to your card on file.
  • What is your return policy?
    Should you have a problem with a product you have purchased, please contact us as soon as possible. We offer a full refund within seven days of purchase as long as the item is not tampered with.
  • What if I am not satisfied with the shear sharpening end result?
    Customer care and satisfaction is our number one priority. If you are not satisfied with your end result, contact us right away and we will schedule a time for us to rectify the issue. We strive to work with our customers to give them the best results possible.
  • Do you do provide pick-up/drop-off or group bookings outside of Brandon, Manitoba.
    Yes, we provide shear sharpening services outside of Brandon. Visit our Services page for more information on fees and surcharges for out of town services.
  • Do you sharpen clipper blades?
    At this time we do not provide this service. Generally we have found that hair stylist clipper blades are thin and difficult to sharpen to our high standards. We suggest purchasing new clipper blades as it is usually cheaper than having them sharpened. However we are in the process of possibly providing this service in the future as animal grooming clippers are of a higher quality and require sharpening more often.
  • Do you sharpen just hair stylist shears?
    We provide sharpening for a wide range of shears and tools such and pet grooming shear, sewing scissors and other items. See our Services page for more details.
  • How does the mail-in service work?
    Customers wishing to mail their shears for sharpening must pay for shipping themselves. When mailing in their shears, customer must include an extra prepaid, self addressed envelope for the return of their shears. If a prepaid, self addressed envelope is not included, we will add the shipping cost to the final invoice. Contact us for shipping address information.
  • How how do I know my shears need to be sharpened?
    There are a number of reasons how you can tell if you shears need to be sharpened. Six typical reasons are: You dropped your shears. They feel dull. Your hand and/or wrist may feel sore. Your shears are pushing the hair. Your shears are pulling or grabbing clients hair. There are nicks or dents on blade making it feel cruchy.
  • How often should I get my shears sharpened?
    Length between sharpening depends highly on how often you are using them and which cutting techniques you tend to utilize the most. For a full-time stylist we recommend every 3-4 months. For a part-time stylist we recommend every 5-6 months. Barbers/Stylists who do a lot more cutting than chemical services will need them done more often, closer to the 3 month mark. If you do a lot of dry cutting, finishing and texturizing with your shears you will need them done more often than someone who cuts on mostly wet hair; cutting dry hair is more aggressive on your blades than wet hair.
  • What is the warranty on the ABOVE shears?
    ABOVE shears comes with a Life Time Warranty against factory defects. Items to be covered by warranty will be determined by the ABOVE Shear Company.
  • What is your turn around time for shears that are picked-up for servicing?
    We understand your tools are your livelihood, so we strive to deliver as quickly as possible. Our turn around times are subject to availability and can vary, but we typically get your items back to you within 2-3 business days or less. If you have a hard deadline for your order, please indicate it on the order form at checkout and we will work to accommodate a rush on the expected turn around time. We also have a selection of ABOVE shears that can be loaned out for purchase during your servicing.
